"Our Department has been very pleased with the professional performance of Jamerson-Lewis Construction, Inc. You guys see projects such as these succeed all of the time, but do not underestimate the effort that goes into the achievement.ĭuring year end reflection and performance evaluation periods, I want to be clear that Ricky and his team’s level of effort and performance surpassed my expectations in regards to the support provided for the project this year. The entire JL team surprised many BWXT employees who were closely monitoring the project. Ricky did an excellent job juggling priorities while moving the project along. Working with a tight schedule is never easy, and layering security requirements only complicates things further. This was an important project for BWXT NOG-L, and Ricky and his team knocked it out of the park. I want to formally thank you both for the work of Ricky Overstreet and his team this year on the BWXT Security Training Facility. Their willingness to go the extra mile has always produced a quality and very reliable product.Southern Air, Inc regards Jamerson-Lewis as one of the best general contractors in the Southeast". We have always found their workmanship to be above industry standards. " As a leader in the construction industry, Jamerson-Lewis is known for their highly skilled workforce. The completion of this project has kicked off the completion of the last phase of work to restore the Academy, the “Jewel of Main Street”, back to her original glory. A local custom light fixture company, Jefferson Lightsmith, was the manufacturer of the actual Marquee sign and the decorative cornice and glass flaps. This was a very unique assembly to coordinate and construct. Changeable type was added back to the three faces of the Marquee as well to mimic the original features. It has a steel armature inside the sheet metal skin to withstand modern loading requirements and is lit with LED luminaries, which will closely mimic the appearance of the original neon tubing. The new canopy was rebuilt to match the 1911 canopy with the 1940’s marquee. This marquee was also demolished prior to 1968. Both the canopy and marquee were demolished and replaced with a larger multi-line marquee. The canopy edges were wrapped in a formed sheet metal trim with the bottom edge adorned with metal-trimmed glass “flaps.” In the 1940’s, the canopy was modified to include a marquee sign, attached to the top side of the original canopy. The original canopy was built back in 1911 and consisted of a flat awning attached to the face of the theatre, with diagonal tension rods fastened from the leading edge back into the brick exterior wall. This was a “one of a kind” project for both the Academy and JLC. Jamerson-Lewis was selected as the General Contractor to re-create the original entry canopy and Marquee sign at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg, VA.
